My wife and I played against Justin at the Lavender Bridge Club in 2013 & 2014. A extremely good player, who probably had forgotten more than we had learned. He was always very pleasant and polite, very helpful with bridge ethics and someone you could have a conversation on a number of subjects.
We knew he had been suffering from an illness, but did not pry into what it was.
Therefore, having moved away from the London area and only just finding out about his death, we are deeply saddened to learn of his passing.
RIP Justin - and our condolences to his family and friends.

I knew Justin because we were in the same year at primary and secondary school but I hadn't seen him since schooldays. I heard through friends in Newcastle that he had died and was saddened by the news, despite all the intervening years. He was a kind, thoughtful and intelligent boy who clearly turned into a kind, thoughtful and intelligent man. My thoughts go to his family. Vince Taylor, Newcastle upon Tyne.

Remembering a very kind and thoughtful man whose amazing knowledge of rail, steam, sport, statistics and bridge never failed to astound us, and whose quick understanding of complex situations though expressed in few words were much appreciated.
Rest in peace dear Justin
With love to all your family from Val, Martin and Alexis Hughes
